Water Chestnut Cleanup Day with the Mystic River Watershed Association
This fall, a small but mighty Encore Boston Harbor team partnered with the Mystic River Watershed Association to help protect and preserve one of our local natural treasures - the Mystic River in Medford, MA.
Together, volunteers rolled up their sleeves and got to work removing invasive water chestnut plants, which pose a serious threat to the river’s ecosystem. By clearing these plants, Encore Boston Harbor volunteers helped native species thrive and ensured the river remains a vibrant and healthy part of the Medford community.
While surrounded by the beauty of the Mystic River, volunteers were reminded of the importance of environmental stewardship. It was a meaningful day of teamwork, learning, and giving back.
