Q: What institutions are eligible to participate in the Wynn Resorts Foundation Scholarship Program?

A: Only institutions housed within the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) and within the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education (MDHE). Q: If my dependent is 25 years of age or younger at the time of the scholarship award, is my dependent eligible for scholarship renewal when my dependent turns 26 years of age?

A: Yes, the scholarship is available for renewal for prior dependent recipients who are younger than 26 years of age at the time of originally receiving the award.

 

Q: Am I eligible to apply if I am older than 26 years of age?
A: Yes, there are no age restrictions on employees.

 

Q: Can my dependent and I apply for the scholarship in the same year?

A: Yes, you both may apply but only one scholarship can be awarded per family per year.  

 

Q: If I am a steady extra, am I eligible to apply for the scholarship?

A: Yes, but you must work an average of twenty (20) hours per week during the year. Seasonal and temporary employees are not eligible to apply.

 

Q: If I am currently a furloughed employee, am I or my dependent eligible to apply for the scholarship?

A: No, as the policy requires an employee to work an average of twenty (20) hours per week during the year.

 

Q: What does the scholarship cover and how are the funds disbursed?

A: The Wynn Resorts Foundation Scholarship will provide financial assistance for tuition, fees, and books. The funds will be disbursed directly to the NSHE institution or MDHE public campus that the recipient is attending.

 

Q: If I receive the scholarship, can I use the funds towards a graduate degree?

A: Yes. Scholarship funds may be used for credits that count towards an undergraduate or graduate degree.

 

Q: How many credits must I or my dependent be enrolled in to receive the scholarship?

A: Employees must be enrolled in at least 6 credits and dependents at least 12 credits each semester if pursing an undergraduate degree.

 

A: Employees or dependents of an employee who are awarded a scholarship and are pursuing a graduate school degree or a specialized program must enroll in a minimum of six (6) credits in both the Fall and Spring Semesters of the academic year for which the scholarship is awarded.

 

**Exceptions to the minimum credit requirement will be evaluated by the Wynn Resorts Foundation Board of Directors on a case by case basis (i.e. if scholarship recipient requires less than twelve (12) credits to graduate).

 

Q: What if I am awarded the scholarship and do not use the full amount awarded?

A: Scholarship recipients can apply scholarship funds to Summer Classes if there is excess funding left from the Fall and Spring semesters.

 

Q: What are the GPA requirements to continue to receive scholarship funding each year?

A: Scholarship recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale at the conclusion of the academic year in which the scholarship is awarded. Transcript showing grades for all classes taken in Fall and Spring semesters must be provided to the Wynn Employee Foundation no later than four (4) weeks following the conclusion of the academic year.

 

Q: Will the tuition reimbursement program be revised to cover the cost of fees and books since the Scholarship does?

A: At this time, there are no plans to revise the tuition reimbursement program.

 

Q: If my GPA drops below the required 3.0 yearly average, am I eligible for repeat funding if I get my grades back up?

A: No. Scholarship recipients must continuously maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale to be eligible to receive funds in subsequent years from original scholarship award.

 

Q: Must I or my dependent be enrolled in classes that are related to the Hospitality Industry?

A: No. The scholarship funds can be used towards any degree field.

 

Q: Do I have to provide proof that I maintained a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale during the academic year (Fall Semester & Spring Semester) in order to be eligible for repeat funding?

A: Yes, a transcript showing the grades for both Fall and Spring must be submitted to the Wynn Resorts Foundation at the conclusion of the Spring Semester.
