Bread of Life
Since the COVID-19 health crisis began, Encore Boston Harbor donated over 40 pallets of food to local food banks, including the Greater Boston Food Bank, Everett Grace Food Pantry, and Bread of Life. With a mission to fight hunger, Bread of Life is a favorite community partner of Encore employees.
During this crisis, the Wynn Employee Foundation granted $25,000 to Bread of Life to help them continue serving their mission to feed the hungry and the homeless. This grant was released at the recommendation of the Employee Advisory Council, a committee of individuals that range across position levels and position types.
Throughout this difficult time, Bread of Life has distributed 161,000 pounds of food and served 3,500 people through their food pantry, meal grocery delivery service, and evening meal deliveries to senior residents and homeless families sheltered in local motels. With the Wynn Employee Foundation’s generous support, they have started a new delivery meal program to serve isolated seniors and residents in Everett, Malden, Medford, Melrose and beyond.
Since the start of the pandemic, 173 senior households (and counting) have received a delivery of groceries that includes a 40 pound box filled with canned goods, cereal, fresh produce, eggs, milk, bread, cheese, meat, fish, and beef stew pouches. These boxes also include cheesy rice meal packets that were packed by Encore Boston Harbor employees at the Giving Tuesday event held on property on December 3rd, 2020.
