Employee Advisory Council Mobilizes to Approve Emergency Grants for Food Insecurity
As many Wynn employees began working from home, it became evident that Las Vegas and Boston populations would most certainly feel the effects of non-essential business closures. The Employee Advisory Council (EAC), a committee comprised of 12 employees that range across position levels and position types, mobilized to provide financial assistance to those impacted by COVID-19.
The EAC approved two emergency grants in the amount of $25,000 and $100,000 for nonprofits that are focused on fighting food insecurity. These donations were funded by the Wynn Employee Foundation’s Community Grant Funds (CGF). The Wynn Employee Foundation has two CGF’s that are entirely employee driven. Wynn Las Vegas and Encore Boston Harbor each have their own respective CGF. Each year, the funds collected by employee donations are matched dollar dollar-for-dollar.
The EAC approved a $100,000 grant from the Wynn Las Vegas CGF to Three Square Food Bank. These funds are specifically earmarked to help feed students since the Clark County School District is temporarily closed. Thousands of students depend on free and reduced-price meals though the Clark County School District.
In addition, the EAC approved a $25,000 grant from the Encore Boston Harbor CGF to Bread of Life, a Boston area nonprofit that has a Senior Nutrition Outreach Program. This grant will ensure this vulnerable population will continue to have vital resources provided by Bread of Life.
