Table Games Hosts a Fundraiser

by Ariel Spicer

The Encore Boston Harbor Table Games Team is a close-knit group who has a sense of social responsibility to support the surrounding greater Boston Communities. The Table Games Team are proud Bostonians, proud of the historical state of Massachusetts with heroes and stories that abound.

As the COVID-19 pandemic started to impact Boston, the Table Games Team were acutely aware that the doctors, nurses, and medical staff in hospitals were lacking basic personal protection equipment such as access to masks, gloves, and sanitizing solutions. These first responders act as soldiers on the frontline, fighting the virus and protecting the lives of Bostonians. The Table Games Team felt in their hearts the need to help!

When the Table Games team initially joined the company, their team underwent a week of vocational training to learn all about Encore Boston Harbor and the Wynn Resorts brand. One Core Value that impressed the entire team was “If you see something, say something.” As COVID-19 cases increased in the greater Boston area, there was a shortage of personal protective equipment for first responders. When the Table Games Team saw this, not only did they say something, but they did something!

Team members decided to take a stand when the residents of Malden organized a donation to support health care workers, the organizer of the fundraiser had heard that even ICU workers had difficulty obtaining PPE, sometimes only getting one face mask per week and with other nurses using handmade masks. In addition, team members began to hear similar stories from loved ones and friends who work in healthcare.

The Table Games Team united and raised a total of $7,580 from 74 dealers in a day and a half! While the table games team was amazed by the generosity of colleagues, they were even more excited to know that the $7,580 that they had raised represented more than $15,000 in support of Boston healthcare workers with the Wynn Resorts Corporate Matching Gifts Program.

Five local area hospitals were selected by the table games team; beneficiaries include Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston Children’s Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Tufts Medical Center, the Cambridge Health Alliance Everett Hospital. Each hospital received a $3032 cash donation in support of the dedication the first responders have for saving those affected by COVID-19.

Thank you, Encore Boston Harbor Table Games for your support of our community!
